I'm just an old fashioned girl who loves most things from the late 1800's to the early 1900's but who also happens to love modern conveniences! I love the old plantation homes, the wrap around porches with swings, garden fresh food, & the flower gardens so many homes had. Yet, I am thankful for air conditioning especially here in the South!
Recently, I had the privilege of being part of a wedding in a gorgeous old home with those beautiful wrap around porches and rich history of days gone by. As I was decorating the tables, I imagined all the social events that have taken place on those porches over the years. Weddings, family dinners, engagement parties, birthday celebrations....it was incredible to think how many people have graced those porches and the house with life events. Inside, the house had the lovely rich wood, the polished floors, the high ceilings and tall doors...it was fun to imagine living there throwing a celebration for family and friends.
The house had all the Southern charm complete with a bride and groom ready to share a lifetime of love. I know RM Vintage Table was happy to be a part of making new memories!
It is almost summer and wedding season is quickly upon us. As I prepare for my next wedding on May 20, excitement always sets in as I seek to set the tables with beauty, character and charm for the bride's guests. The venue is a large plantation home still owned by the original family for many generations, rich with history; just as there is abundant history associated with my china that has graced many tables over the years....I stop to ponder what memories were made around those tables from years gone by. I know on May 20 many more conversations and memories will be made that will become precious to the bride and groom and their guests.....Blessings and Love, Marta
